Jose. We have been away and just returned home yesterday. I just put on my computer and was absolutely overwhelmed, not only by the scope of what you have done, but also by seeing myself on the screen. However, what really blew me away, was the photos Bruce Zatz sent you. Bruce is related and the photo consists of his grand mother Shoshie, his great grandmother Maryim, and Moshe Peltin, who is his great, great grandfather. (The father of Bruce's great grandfather Eli, Maryim's husband). I have been in Bruce's house and have seen the Archives he has collected (Birth, marriage, death certificates of practically every member of the extended family on all sides-incredible), but I had never seen the photo he sent you. (His great grandmother was the sister of my grandmother).

To say that I was overwhelmed by what you have done would be an understatement, including the patriotic music. My grandparents loved America. They came from Jedwabne, so you will understand. I view the whole genealogy project as if they are not really gone but will always be remembered. I have prepared loose leaf books with photos, family trees etc. that I give to each of my grandchildren on their Bar/Bat mitzvah. They love it and so the remembrances continue into the next generations.

As an aside, we recently returned from a visit to Israel. where my wife Rebecca discovered relatives there she did not know she had. Very exciting. Anyhow, you have performed a MAJOR MITZVAH and I cannot thank you enough. Regards. Joe

Thank you for the opportunity to visit this site. It is both so moving, and interesting.

The poignancy of these photos, of people so long gone, and so unbearably cruelly taken out of this world will always stay with me.

Your page is very well done. My husband's family is from Czachy (near Radzilow). When I was in Radzilow in March 2002 I noticed the memorial by the side of the road. I never knew about what happened there and I learned a lot from your website. When I came home from Poland I told my mother-in-law about the memorial and she told me she remembered that day. Thank you for educating me on some of the important history that took place in Radzilow. When I return to visit my in-laws in the future, I will be sure to show the memorial and tell my children about it.

Translation:

I am deeply moved with what I have read about the crimes committed by Poles in Jedwabne and Radzilow. I cannot fathom this cruel acts and I cannot comprehend the lack of remorse. I am deeply sorrowed by what people did to other people, I do not understand (how this could happen) and I am ashamed that this was done by Poles, (especially) because I am Polish. I found a link to your page in the article by Mrs. Bieniek (sic - Bikont) and the pictures (on your page) allowed me to get closer and (feel) these times better. I cannot describe what I feel now – great pain and a feeling of shame.

I send you my cordial greetings. You page is exceptional, almost magical...

I am sorry that I write in Polish, but my English is not good.

Thank you, Jose, for creating this magnificent web page about Radzilow.

Thanks to this site and thanks to you, my mother, Chana Finkelstein/Ann Walters, has been able to tell her history as one of the last two survivors of the 1941 massacre.

Anna Bikont came to Kansas from Poland to meet and interview Chana for her upcomming book this last April and Dr. Deborah Klee of the Kansas City Jewish Chronicle wrote a front page article about my mother and her soul wrenching memories this week. Hopefully, the article, or at least a link to it, will be available on this site soon.

Thank you for all your effort creating this beautifully crafted site and for connecting us to my grandmother and uncle's testimony in English, Anna Bikont and my family's town.

Dear Sir,

How excited I was to surf into your page. My cousin and I have been searching our Semborski ancestry for years. He travelled to Poland shortly before "Neighbors" came out. We believe our grandfather came from Jedwabne. We were very shocked and sickened by what we found out happened there. I know my grandfather was Catholic and I dread the thought that we might have had some relatives who helped with these murders. God help us all to learn to love each other.

Thank you, Patty

I just finished a book called Neighbors by Jan T. Gross and it is about the Jedwabne Jews and the other town around it. And I feel at it has a lot to do with what is talked about on your websites. I can not believe what the Poles and the Germans did to the Jews.

This topic upsets me sometimes, but it is part of my past and everyone elses. And if you do not study it and learn from it, you are doomed to live it.

Because of your efforts - coupled with Uncle Meyer - I now know that (1) Radzilower Shul is not in Brooklyn, but in the Lower East Side, (2) the original family name was spelled Sztabinski, (3) I have that precious picture of Uncle Meyer with my great-grandmother and great-aunt, neither of whom did I know of before, (4) my grandparents are buried in Mokom Sholom cemetery in Bayside, and (5) It was also recalled and confirmed that some of the family changed their surname not to Silverstein but to Stebins. Todah Rabah!

My mother was a Radzilowski, born in Everson, PA. Her father was Stanley (Stanislaus) Radzilowski, born Nov. 6, 1884 in Poland. I'm trying to locate where in Poland he and my Grandmother, Lottie Tepper, born Dec. 12, 1887 came from. They married in the US in Pennsylvania. It was her second marriage, I believe also his second. They were Roman Catholic, attending the Polish Catholic church in Everson, PA

What a great website! So much research, obviously done with so much love. You must be the ultimate authority on Radzilow.

I went looking for pictures of my father's family and was surprised to see one of my uncle Morris Niedvetski's aunt and uncle and the whole family (he was married to my mother's sister) on the day the elder couple were moving from Cuba to Israel.

I can still remember being at their house, where my brother and my cousin had their bris. Brought back long forgotten beautiful memories.

Thanks for getting in touch with me.

Thanks for e-mailing the link to this website to me. My brothers and sister are all excited about the family tree project; this website provides amazing information about roots we never really knew about. With both our parents dead, we've not had the opportunity to explore this part of our history.

Most sincere thanks, and we look forward to learning more and spending more time in the site.
